Grandparents are often the forgotten victims in divorce cases where custody of the children ends up being taken by just one of parents

PLANNED GIVING - ENSURING A BRIGHT JEWISH FUTURE!

The first thing to consider: Giving Tzedakah (charity), in our lifetime, is naturally the first choice, and optimum way to give, as the impact can be done here and now, and not wait for the hereafter. Your generous gift now can dedicate a part of the synagogue, building, campus, or program, in your name or in the name of a loved one.  That being said, financial considerations may only enable some of our giving to take place after our physical lifetime.

Making a legacy gift, a bequest, to Tzedakah (charity) is a special Mitzvah and provides an everlasting merit for one's Neshama (soul). It also ensures that your support  and spiritual impact in this world will continue on for a long time to come.

Your generous legacy gift to Chabad of the Bay Area will be felt and appreciated right here at home, in our community, helping to ensure a meaningful and vibrant Jewish future for Yiddishkeit here, which impacts the well-being of the Jewish nation as a whole.

Chabad of the Bay Area is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization. Your donation is tax deductible.

How a Legacy Gift Works

  • Designate a portion of your estate to Chabad of the Bay Area for a Jewish legacy.
  • Leave either a percentage or a specific dollar amount to Chabad of the Bay Area.
  • Please inform Chabad of the Bay Area of your intention to leave a bequest.
  • After your passing, the trustee transfers the funds or real estate to our institution.

SAMPLE LANGUAGE FOR USE IN A WILL

After speaking with an attorney, you may want to use this sample language:

“I give to Chabad of the Bay Area Inc of League City, TX, EIN: 45-3116427 a Texas not-for-profit corporation that is recognized as exempt from tax under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, with its principal office located at 2121 Austin St, League City, TX 77573  ___  percent of the total value of my estate to be used for its general purposes.”

Points to Consider:

  • A bequest does not cost you anything or impact your finances during your lifetime.
  • Bequests are revocable, if necessary, and can be changed or modified during your lifetime.
  • Bequests may help ease the tax burden of your family.
  • This is the most popular way for individuals to leave a Jewish legacy.

Common types of Bequests:

  • Residuary Bequest: You leave to Chabad of the Bay Area a percentage of the estate.
  • Outright Bequest: You leave to Chabad of the Bay Area a specific dollar amount or a specific asset, such as securities or real estate.
  • Various options: real estate, life insurance, retirement plans, charitable trusts, or charitable gift annuities.

Our office can work with you and your family, or your financial advisor, to develop the most personalized strategy for your goals.
